How the Azerbaijan passport photo works
Inside Azerbaijan, the passport photo is captured live at ASAN service centres with special equipment. This means customers cannot supply their own image there, and a home-made photo will not replace the live capture.
When you apply at an embassy abroad, the application form needs two colour photos of 3x4 cm (30x40 mm, or 1.18 x 1.57 in). That is the photo this page helps you prepare.
- Size: 30x40 mm, width by height.
- Copies: 2 printed photos.
- Quality: colour, printed at 300 DPI.
- Glasses: allowed, but without glare.
- Head covering: religious only, with the face fully visible.
The passport pages only say that photos must be in colour. Ministry of Foreign Affairs guidance uses a plain white background, so white is the safest choice. No head height is officially specified.
How to take the photo at home with a phone
Stand in front of a plain white wall, about a metre away from it so no shadow falls behind you. Face a window for soft, even light. Ask someone to take the picture at eye level from a normal distance and not too close.
- Look straight at the camera with a neutral expression.
- Keep your whole face, from chin to forehead, uncovered and visible.
- If you wear glasses, tilt the phone slightly or change the light so there is no reflection on the lenses.
- Take several shots and choose the sharpest one.
Common reasons the photo is rejected
- Black and white print. Colour is required.
- Glare on glasses. Reflections hide the eyes.
- Shadows or a patterned background. Use a plain surface.
- Wrong size. Photos that are not 3x4 cm will not fit the form.
- Face partly covered. Hair, scarves or hands over the face are not accepted.
- Low-quality prints. Blurry or pixelated prints are a common problem with home printers.
Because the live capture happens at the service centre, treat your own print only as the supporting photo for an embassy form. Keep a spare copy, since consular staff may ask for an additional print, and avoid stapling or writing on the face side of the photo.
Printing the photo
This is a printed submission. IDPhotoly crops your photo to 30x40 mm, replaces the background with white and can place several copies on one sheet so you can print the two you need on photo paper at 300 DPI.
The picture is processed in your browser and not uploaded. Before you rely on it, confirm the exact requirements with the embassy handling your application.
