Does your Turkey visa need a photo?
This page applies only to sticker visas applied for at a mission. The Turkey e-Visa does not need a photo, so you should not make one for it.
The Turkey sticker visa photo rules in plain words
The photo is a biometric picture of 50x60 mm (1.97 x 2.36 in), which is 591x709 pixels at 300 DPI as a JPG. The background is patternless white. Glasses, earrings and hats are not allowed, and the photo must have been taken within the last 6 months.
- Size: 50x60 mm, width by height.
- Background: patternless white.
- No glasses, earrings or head coverings.
- Submission: printed and digital, depending on the mission.
The official head height is not specified. Keep the head centred and clearly visible with space around it.
Missions do not all ask for the same thing
Practice varies between missions. For example, the London mission asks you to upload the photo online and bring one print to the interview. Los Angeles also accepts 2x2 inch photos, and Islamabad asks for two 5x5 cm photos. Always check the instructions of your local mission before you print.
How to take the photo at home with a phone
Stand in front of a plain white wall or sheet, about a metre away, and use even daylight from a window. A helper should hold the phone at eye height and take the picture from a normal distance.
- Remove glasses, earrings and hats.
- Look straight at the camera with a neutral expression.
- Keep the head level and the full face visible.
- Avoid shadows on the face and on the wall.
Common reasons a Turkey visa photo is rejected
- Wrong size. A standard 35x45 mm print instead of 50x60 mm.
- Patterned or coloured background. It must be plain white.
- Glasses, earrings or a hat. None of these are allowed.
- Old photo. It must be no older than 6 months.
- Using the wrong rule for your mission. Some accept other sizes, but only if the mission says so.
- Poor lighting or blur. The face must be sharp and even.
Printing or uploading
If your mission asks for a print, use photo paper at 300 DPI and cut it to 50x60 mm. If it asks for an upload, use the JPG at 591x709 pixels. IDPhotoly can prepare both, and it checks the background and format before you pay.
Photos are processed in your browser and are not uploaded. If an official authority rejects the photo, you can request a full refund within 30 days by email.
