What you need to know first
The Uzbekistan biometric passport photo is captured live. In Uzbekistan this happens at migration offices and service centres, and abroad the consulate takes digital photographs. That means you cannot supply the image that ends up in the passport. The embassy still asks for two printed photos of 3.5x4.5 cm (35x45 mm) for the application file, and that is what this page helps you prepare.
The photo rules in plain words
- Size: 35x45 mm, width by height (1.38 x 1.77 in), printed at 300 dpi.
- Copies: 2.
- Background: the official page does not specify a colour. White is customary, so a plain white or very light wall is the safe choice.
- Glasses: not allowed.
- Head covering: religious reasons only, with the face fully visible.
- Head size: no figure is published, so follow the usual passport proportions and keep the face large and centred.
How to take the photo at home with a phone
Sit facing a window in daylight, in front of a plain light wall. Have a helper hold the phone at eye level, about an arm's length or two away, and take the picture in portrait orientation. Look straight at the lens with a neutral expression, mouth closed and both eyes open. Keep your hair off your face and wear a top that contrasts with the wall.
Then add the picture to IDPhotoly. It is processed in your browser, cropped to 35x45 mm, the background is replaced and the result is arranged on a print sheet.
Why embassy photos get returned
- Uneven lighting, with shadows across one side of the face.
- A background that is patterned, dark or not plain.
- Glasses, or a head covering that hides part of the face.
- A smile or open mouth instead of a neutral expression.
- Prints at the wrong scale because the printer shrank the image to fit the page.
- A photo that looks edited, blurred or low in resolution.
Printing the two copies
Download the 4x6 inch (10x15 cm) sheet and print it at 100 percent or actual size. Never choose fit to page. At a kiosk or photo lab, hand over the file as it is and ask for no automatic cropping. Measure one photo with a ruler: it should read 35 mm wide and 45 mm tall. Cut along the guide lines, keeping the white margin around the head.
Requirements can change and consular sections sometimes add details, so confirm the current list with your embassy before you submit. IDPhotoly is not affiliated with any government. If an official authority rejects a photo made with the service, you can ask for a full refund by email within 30 days.
