Saudi eVisa photo rules in plain words
The Saudi eVisa portal publishes its photo specifications. There is no printed size here, because the photo is digital only. The image must be exactly 200x200 px, and the file must be between 5 KB and 100 KB.
- Format: the portal accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF and BMP. We provide a JPG.
- Face size: the face fills 70-80% of the photo.
- Background: plain white, with no pattern and no shadows.
- Head covering: religious reasons only, with the face fully visible.
- Glasses: the official page does not mention them. Glasses without glare are the safest option, and removing them is even safer.
Why exactly 200x200 matters
Most passport photos are rectangular, but this portal wants a small square. A standard 35x45 mm photo will not do, and a file that is too large or too small in KB can also fail. The tool produces the square size and keeps the file between 5 and 100 KB.
How to take it at home with a phone
Stand facing a plain white wall in even light. Keep a short distance between you and the wall to avoid a shadow behind your head. Hold the phone at eye level, or ask someone to take it, and look straight ahead with a neutral face.
Fill the frame comfortably with your head and the tops of your shoulders. The crop is done afterwards, so you do not need to line up the square on your phone.
Processing
The picture is processed in your browser, not uploaded. It is cropped to a square, resized to 200x200 px, the background is made white and the face share is checked.
Common reasons for rejection
- The image is not exactly 200x200 px.
- The file is under 5 KB or over 100 KB.
- The face fills much less than 70-80% of the photo.
- A patterned, grey or shadowed background.
- A head covering that hides part of the face.
- A blurry picture from a small resized screenshot.
Uploading
This is a digital upload. Download the 200x200 px JPG and attach it in the eVisa application form. No print is needed.
If an authority rejects the photo, you get a full refund.
Before you attach the file
Right-click the downloaded file and check its properties: the dimensions should read 200x200 and the size should sit between 5 KB and 100 KB. If you edit the picture again in another app, these values can change, so use the file exactly as downloaded. Keep a copy on your phone or computer in case the portal asks you to upload it again.
